The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s (HUJI) Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences (IUI) in Eilat, Israel, is the only interuniversity research/teaching facility in Israel. It provides Israeli and foreign universities with research and teaching capabilities in all fields of marine science. The coral reefs and the open waters adjacent to the IUI are ecologically unique ecosystems of outstanding importance. The IUI has strong expertise in research of corals, fish, zooplankton, phytoplankton and bacteria as well as long-term monitoring of marine ecosystems and management of large databases. The IUI has 7 resident scientists, 75 non-resident scientists, 35 graduate students, and 30 technical/administrative staff. On average 25 academic courses are taught at the IUI every year. HUJI-IUI will offer TA and contribute to NA2, NA3, NA4, JRA1 and JRA4.
